They occur in various social contexts—in everyday life, in the digital sphere, in political debates, and also in sports. Against this backdrop, sports take on particular significance as a preventive measure.
The fairplay initiative at the VIDC has developed guidelines on antisemitism in sports and will present them to sports clubs and associations during the event. The guidelines serve as practical recommendations for action and are intended to be used as a resource to help combat antisemitism in sports.
The event focuses on the opportunities that sports offer in prevention work. In recent years, the fairplay prevention project has demonstrated how clubs, federations, and training facilities can become key partners in the fight against extremism. Sports foster interaction, promote values such as fairness, respect, and solidarity, and thereby create spaces where exclusion and radicalization have no place.
The event is being held in cooperation with the Coalition to Counter Online Antisemitism (CCOA), coordinated by the Institute for Strategic Development (ISD). The CCOA was launched in 2023 to combat antisemitism online with a unified and cohesive European response. To this end, the coalition brings together a wide range of experts from the fields of education, research, and politics to forge new partnerships, build bridges, and combat online antisemitism across society as a whole.
The coalition focuses on ten countries: Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
