Kick-off fairplay action weeks 2025
Representatives from football, basketball, ice hockey, and martial arts, together with politicians, clubs, and athletes, sent a clear message: a large banner in the Arenbergpark football cage now serves as a daily reminder that sport stands for respect, diversity, and togetherness.
District manager Erich Hohenberger emphasized social responsibility in his welcome speech: “We all have a responsibility to give our young people the opportunity to participate in the sports they love, regardless of their origin, social status, or gender. Team sports in particular promote cohesion and understanding in a playful way. That's why I support the fair play action weeks, as well as a large number of sports clubs in my district, in order to strengthen the principle of ‘togetherness’.”
Voices from the world of sport
Virginia Kirchberger (ÖFB, Austria Vienna): “We players are role models – and we say a clear NO to sexism and violence.”
Yasmin Stepina (ÖEHV): “Respect and appreciation are our foundation.”
Diana Picorusevic (BK Raiffeisen Duchess): “Coaches are responsible for ensuring a safe environment.”
Ingo Mach (ÖFB): “Misconduct will not be tolerated here.”
Christian Ebenbauer (ÖFBL): “Sport should be fun – we take responsibility for that.”
Tara Pire (poika): “Sport is key to breaking down toxic images of masculinity.”

Since 2001: A strong sign of diversity
The fairplay action weeks have been a fixture in the Austrian sports calendar for over 20 years. This year, for the first time, the Austrian Ice Hockey Association is also on board – supported by the City of Vienna and the Ministry of Sport.
